At least not in the recruitment sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A similar sentiment was shared by Keith Rosser of the Better Hiring Institute at a recent meeting of the UK\u2019s All Party Parliamentary Group on Modernising Employment. \u201cThe problem\u201d he announced \u201cis not technology&#8230;The technology is there\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And he\u2019s right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"345\" src=\"https:\/\/www.whitecrowresearch.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Artboard-2-2-1-1024x345.png\" alt=\"Recruitment has witnessed various tech innovations over the years, but the only two which were genuinely transformative were Dillistone\u2019s rollout of its Filefinder database and LinkedIn. Since then, recruitment has largely resisted further digitization, with many TA professionals still happily working off spreadsheets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The problem is that a lot of attempted innovation is ill-considered. It\u2019s often the case that the provider gets much more excited than the client. One recruitment company has been trying to market an online <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitecrow.co\/resources\/employers\/what-is-talent-pool\/\">talent pipelining<\/a> tool for about ten years but with very limited take-up. The problem, one previous user told us, is that it doesn\u2019t actually solve anything. \u201cFirstly, it doesn\u2019t look great when you compare it to the sort of interface most people are used to on apps and social media platforms. But even if it looked amazing, it\u2019s basically a solution for a problem that doesn\u2019t exist.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitecrowresearch.com\/\">WhiteCrow<\/a> we\u2019re always looking for ways that technology can improve both process and outcome. Humans and machines. Too often, the first is forgotten with giddy would-be innovators rushing ahead without bothering to find what clients actually need or want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of looking to reinvent the wheel, recruiters need to gain a better understanding of TA leaders\u2019 real-world problems. And in our experience, very few of them are lying awake at night thinking <em>If only I had more technology<\/em>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rather, they\u2019re asking for a better <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitecrowresearch.com\/resources\/2023\/04\/27\/candidate-experience-what-companies-get-wrong\/\">understanding of candidate culture<\/a>. They want to know how much candidates are paid, how best to approach them, what they think of remote working, how they respond to this or that brand&#8230;You don\u2019t get that sort of insight from a piece of software. It comes from hard work and human engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At WhiteCrow, we\u2019re all for the technology revolution. But it should be led by people.
